Tony first took to the skies with his cameras when he worked for Kent
Police. A chance introduction to Tiger Moths at Headcorn soon meant he
camera was pointing out of the aircraft and not just down at the ground
He became a proprietor of an existing partnership of Sloman & Pettitt
Photography in 1998 and with this he now undertakes a wide range of professional
commercial photography. He has a passion for aviation photography His
work has taken him on international assignment to Tanzania , South Africa,
Malta and Hungary. His clients include private owners of light aircraft
to large companies such as BAE Systems, Northrop Grumman, and Jet Aviation.

Tony was commissioned to photograph a Spitfire for a display in the Millennium
Dome and is the official photographer for the Kent Spitfire and the Pilatus
P2 G-PTWO. He has commissioned work and freelance submissions published
in Pilot magazine (UK) 'Aerokurier' (Germany), 'l'Aviation (France) Aeroplane
Monthly' (UK) Fly Past (UK) Rohviili (Finland) ' Airv' (Denmark) Pilots
Journal USA, Kent Life, Friends of the few, and many others
With an expanding aviation photography portfolio. He is active in marketing
to a world wide market. He is able to travel any where in the world.
Career History
...Tony first worked in professional photography as an assistant to Jeremy
McCabe a staff photographer for Pictor International Colour Library. This
gave him experience in studio and location photography with many camera
formats from 35mm and 6x6, 6x7 roll up to 10x8 Sheet film on field and
rail cameras.
In 1986 he took employment as a Photographic Officer with Kent Police
where he gained experience in technical darkroom photography, copy camera
operation, studio, location and forensic photography which is the enhancement
of fingerprints, suspect documents, shoe marks etc. This roll also required
proficiency in social photography, portraiture and aerial photography.
...From 1987 to 1994 he was a SOCO.(CSI) This included the operational
side of police photography. He was responsible for the operation of large
and medium format cameras at scenes that included burglaries, fatal traffic
accidents, fires and industrial accidents, sudden or suspicious deaths,
wounding etc. The need to able to work quickly, effectively and professionally
both with the police and other emergency services as well as was often
the case often with distressed victims. Accuracy was essential to record
the incident and ultimately to attended court to present photographs that
may have been crucial in the case for the prosecution.
He returned to the Photographic Department to further his experience in
forensic photography by then using many more techniques that had been
developed including Quasars and a Visual Spectral Comparator. He was also
responsible for C41 and RA4 processing to the Kodak Q-Lab standard.
In 1998 He took over Sloman and Pettitt Photography, an established High
Street photography partnership that had been trading in Maidstone for
51 years. He had a studio and office in Maidstone and then in Aylesford.
Due to the changing nature of the client group The studio was closed the
studio and he now works from an office at his home.
Tony volunteers in the restoration of historic aircraft at Rochester
Airport and is responsible for the website of a number of aircraft and
groups that are based there. A Member of the Tiger Club at Headcorn Tony
is often "prop swinging" on a Sunday. He also works with helicopters
at AV8 Helicopters at Rochester... This knowledge of the subject, wealth
of experience and a passion for aircraft shines through in his work.
