A photo which contains Frank Peter Sparkes,

His Grandson Matthew Ladds would be very interested to know where and when it was taken and if it was for a particular occasion.

Frank Peter Sparkes is stood next to the starboard engine in the dark jacket. He was know as Peter and he worked at Short Brothers building seaplanes on the Medway from before WW2, Its thought he may have helped build Short Stirlings at Rochester during the war for a time. he may of moved up to Rochester Airport to work in about 1955, he stayed there until retirement in about 1978. When he finished he was working for Elliots.

Any Information to Mapsl Please on tonystigle@yahoo.com

The aircraft was first identified as a Shorts Sturgeon (and is still believe by some to be one. Some of our members are adamant that no Beaufighter had been to Rochester while they worked there for Shorts.) Its now, by most, to bee identified as a Bristol Beaufighter, the photograph was taken at Rochester Airport of Hangar 3.
